The Needlework Gazette

The Needlework Gazette was founded in 1977 based upon a new needlepoint technique developed by founder Diane Schultz

Our first product was a kit called Beyond Patterning, which included a patented stitch template that made decorative pattern stitching on canvas much easier. Later we went on to publish several decorative stitch collections: Wonderful Stitches and Pretty and Pink.

Although the name implies a periodical, we do not currently publish one. The name sprang out of the picture on our first product, made to look like a Victorian magazine (fictitious) named The Needlework Gazette. Maybe some day, we'll publish such a periodical. If and when we did, we suspect it would be an electronic publication.

About Diane Schultz

Diane has been involved in needlepoint since she explored the media in a project during her formal graduate art training at Cal State University. Since 1976, she has spent full time designing and teaching needlepoint, concentrating on the use of decorative stitches. She has devised and patented a handy see-through plastic pattern guide to aid in matching stitches to design shapes as well as to aid in the exact location of those stitches. Her designs are marketed both directly and in kit form through several commercial needlework firms.
